One Of The Best New Car for 2021-2022 : "Acura"

Image
Most Acura models carry into 2021 with only minor updates The RDX,for example,is available as a limited edition and hand-built PMC edition, meaning it's assembled alongside the NSX at Acura's Performance manufacturing center in Ohio. What's new are the TLX Sedan and MDX SUV. The TLX Starts a new generation for 2021,where it competes with the likes of the Audi A4,BMW 3 series,Mercedes-Benz C-Class,and, let's say, Tesla  Model 3. The new TLX is longer and wider and it looks pretty sleek too. The standard turbo 4-cylinder makes 272 horsepower and you can pair it with either front or all-wheel drive. The forthcoming Type S is all -wheel drive only is all-wheel drive only and gets a turbo V6 with 355 horsepower. The base price is just under $40,000 and the type S should start in the low $50,000 range when it goes on sale this spring. The new MDX arrives as a 2022 model.  We had an early look at a prototype model that should closely resemble what you'll see at the dealer.

Nissan sets 2050 carbon neutral target date

Nissan has yet to specify whether that means offering only electrified powertrains, or offering at least one electrified version of every new model. Nissan already offers the  long-runnin

1750-HP SSC Tuatara Sets Production-Car Speed Record (for Real This Time)

Image
After a controversial outing in October in Nevada, SSC took its hypercar to Florida and averaged a record-breaking 282.9 mph, pushing it past Koenigsegg's 2017 mark. Last October, Jerod Shelby, founder and owner of  SSC North America  (formerly Shelby SuperCars), took a 1750-hp Tuatara hypercar to the Nevada desert and claimed a production-car record with a 316.11-mph average speed. Then the internet went to work, digging into the runs and digging up inconsistencies in the measuring and monitoring of the car's performance. Whether the Nevada attempt was sloppy or underhanded remains debatable, but the results didn't stand up to scrutiny. Setting up in Florida at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds at the Kennedy Space Center on January 17 to take another run at a record held by the  Koenigsegg Agera RS since 2017 , Shelby and SSC brought along plenty of backup. "We had  Racelogic  there with their VBOX equipment, we had  Life Racing , we had Garmin, and we had IMRA, wh

The hug of homecoming: Hedonism in the natural world

Image
" Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.” – Gary Snyder In a very real sense, mountains and valleys, the seas and the skies, the sun and the earth, the trees and the flowers constitute our home, our natural habitat. Growing up in the modern developed world we can easily come to believe that towns and cities – the urban and artificial environment – is where we naturally belong. But our brains and bodies, which evolved over thousands of years, were designed by and designed for an environment very different to the one we live in now. Throughout our evolutionary history we lived in very close connection to the land, with a very close kinship with other creatures. Our physiological system evolved to survive in wild, natural environments and developed a love and kinship for these places that lives on in our DNA. This connection with the land combined with the kinship we would have felt with other living things that shared the land as their home has hardwired in us a strong sense o

Connecting with nature: The practice of ‘wind-watching’

Image
The world is animated by the wind. This invisible, mysterious force can bring a landscape alive. Its absence can cast a calm stillness over the earth. On barren mountain tops its power is barely perceptible; in forests and seas its presence becomes manifest. Winds are wild, and sometimes destructive. When we look deeply into the nature of wind, when we reflect on its life, its journey to us, we can see the interconnected nature of all things. The light from the sun travels to the surface of the earth, where air is heated unevenly over land and sea causing it to expand and rise at different rates until this rising and displacing air builds in billowing gusts that rock the oceans and ripple the seas. The wind can make rag-dolls of trees, ripping them from their roots. The beauty of the wind is its dynamism. It is not constant, nor predictable. One minute it lifts the place; the next there is a lull of still abiding peace. On gentle days it is god’s whisper; In more rambunctious form it

Nature is a teacher – Just sit quietly under a tree

Image
As I sit outside under an old plane tree that I know very well, I get the sense that summer is slowly coming to a close. A feeling accompanies this realisation. A sinking, uncomfortable feeling that I know all too well. It is the same feeling that comes on Sunday evenings as another week in the office beckons. The same feeling that comes when the long awaited annual two week holiday is almost over. I remember the exact same feeling a few years ago when I was travelling – I was sitting in a small coffee shop in Bali when I realised that I had passed the half way point of my trip. It hit me hard then. The party would soon be over. The glass was now more empty than full. This feeling has been with me in one way or another for most of my adult life. Now, as I sit in my favourite place under this old tree I can feel it again. The days are getting shorter and colder. Soon the trees will be bare. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it feels like the sands of time are running out. There is

Nature Connection Exercise – Perceive and Receive

Image
For this exercise find a place, any place, with some nature present (which, let’s face it, is anywhere and everywhere; the air you are breathing right now, even the body with which you perceive the world is part of ‘nature’). In this practice, we begin by honing our powers of perception. Imagine you have just landed here on planet Earth and are experiencing this reality for the first time. What are you curious about? What do you notice? What aspects of the environment draw your attention? Open and engage all the senses. What is it to see, hear, feel, smell? Direct your attention towards something that gives you pleasure in or around you. Allow your attention to be sustained on this object. Resist the habitual tendency to move on quickly to something else. Stay with it, explore and investigate all its qualities with the senses. What happens when you stay with the experience? Often the more we look, the more we see, as new layers of detail begin to emerge as the subtleties and nuances

Seeing with “fresh eyes” – A deeper nature experience

Image
Around the time I first learned how to meditate, something amazing happened to me. It happened one day, quite spontaneously.  I couldn’t explain it but it was as if I was seeing this place for the very first time. I saw bees moving frantically amongst the flowers. The colours were so incredibly vivid. Were these same flowers here yesterday? Had someone come in the middle of the night and changed everything? It felt like that. There were so many details I had never seen before. It was disconcerting and in a way, almost frightening. I was usually a very brisk, purposeful walker but now my pace slowed. I looked around. There was so much life. So much movement. I felt an emotion that wasn’t at all familiar to me in those days…. pure joy. I could feel it intensely in my body. I just wanted to bask in all this beauty. I had been asleep, dead and now, finally I was awake. It’s not an uncommon experience when someone starts to practice mediation. As we start to slow down and stop living so m

Connecting to Care

Image
The absence of a deep emotional connection between humans and the natural world is at the root of the environmental crisis. Can you think of a place in nature that you know really well? Close your eyes for a moment and see what comes up. Can you visualise the place in exquisite detail? The sounds, the colours, the smells, the subtleties that only you know. Do memories surface? Perhaps you have known this place for a long time. Maybe you spent golden moments from your childhood here? There might be happy memories tinged with sadness or regret? How does it feel when you bring this place to mind now? Please don’t rush. Take a moment to connect. Now another question. How would you feel if this same place was under imminent threat? Imagine someone is destroying it right now. What do you feel? Anger? Sadness? Shock? Resignation? Nothing at all? Can you imagine that you might actually do something immediate and tangible to help protect this place? Be honest with yourself. If you really have
